Is it safe? Is it permanent?

If you’re considering bodysculpting treatments, you’ll no doubt be asking these questions.

Different non-invasive body sculpting procedures are carried out all over the world every day. CoolSculpting alone has been used over 2 million times1. If you’re considering having somebody contouring procedures done, you’ll probably be asking whether it’s safe (or if there’ll be side effects), and if it’s permanent. It’s great to do your research first.

Let’s talk science

At Fiori, we offer CoolSculpting and SculpSure bodysculpting treatments, which use the power of controlled cooling and heating respectively to eliminate fat cells. How? Applicators are applied to the area to be treated, which then deliver controlled temperature that penetrates the skin. As fat cells respond more quickly to heating and cooling than the skin, the skin remains undamaged, while the unwanted fat cells are killed off.*

These procedures are completely safe, and have been FDA approved. Though there may be some discomfort or bruising, these usually resolve within 14 days and there are rarely any permanent side effects2.

And the best bit?

The fat cells that are eliminated via these non-invasive bodysculpting techniques are gone for GOOD! Yep, you read that right. The results are permanent.* Research shows that the number of fat cells in our bodies is set during childhood and adolescence, and tends to stay the same throughout adult life3. As we lose weight, these fat cells shrink but do not decrease in number*. This is why some people struggle to lose weight in certain areas despite exercise and healthy eating.

With non-invasive bodysculpting procedures like SculpSure and CoolSculpting, the number of fat cells are reduced. You can still gain weight by eating too much and the remaining fat cells may expand slightly, however the cells you’ve gotten rid of will never come back. This means it will be easier for you to retain your ideal body shape.*

The great news is that research and technology is improving every day, making treatment safer, more effective and more accessible. These non-invasive techniques are still relatively new, however they are much safer and less risky than invasive procedures which have been around for much longer. (See “Invasive vs. Non-Invasive Body Contouring Techniques”).
