Glycolic Acid Chemical Peels Brisbane
Glycolic Acid Chemical Peels
The Fiori Institute of Skin and Body is one of Brisbane's leading experts in chemical peels. We are proud to offer a wide selection of chemical peels including AHA, BHA, TCA, as well as Vitamin A chemical peels. Each peel has a specific level of controlled injury to your skin and is designed to treat
specific skin conditions.*
What is an AHA or glycolic acid chemical peel?
AHA stands for Alpha Hydroxy Acid. These chemical peels include glycolic acid peels and lactic acid peels, and are derived from fruit acids. They do not contain any additives or synthetic products. They are safe to use during pregnancy but do also require extreme caution as they are not neutralised. As specialists, we can safely and properly increase the peel concentrations at a much faster rate than cosmetic clinics.*
How do we perform a glycolic acid chemical peel?
We advise that all patients avoid the use of exfoliation creams and sponges three days prior to their chemical peel. We usually begin the treatment session by cleaning the skin with a Clarisonic or
exfoliating scrub prior to the chemical peel.
At the Fiori Institute Skin and Body, we use the very highest strength of chemical peels (up to 70% glycolic acid peels). It is standard protocol that we start at a 20% solution, thereby increasing slowly to 35%, 50% and finally 70%. These modifications are determined on a case-by-case basis, as not all patients can tolerate 70% chemical peels. We modify the peel strength and timing depending on your skin type, as well as skin condition and sensitivities.*

Is a glycolic acid chemical peel painful?
What is the downtime following an AHA glycolic acid chemical peels?
AHA chemical peels do not cause any skin peeling so no downtime is needed. This peel causes gentle exfoliation of the upper layers of the skin. Glycolic acid peels can be used as a generalised skin rejuvenation procedure, but can also treat fine wrinkles, sun damage, enlarged pores, acne, as well as pigmentation.*
