Microneedling Brisbane

Skin microneedling can treat various conditions, including acne scarring, skin laxity, and wrinkles. It can also provide an overall improvement in the skin texture and skin tone, and help create younger, firmer skin with boosted collagen.*

The Fiori Institute of Skin and Body provides the very latest in RF energy-based microneedling systems using medical grade EndyMed 3 DEEP fractional RF technology.

What is skin needling?

Skin needling can be divided into two categories. The first category is non-energy-based devices such as Dermapen, skin rolling, and collagen-induced therapy rolling or CIT. The second is category is energy-based devices such as gold-plated microneedling with radiofrequency energy – this is the EndyMed Intensif RF system.

Microneedling Before & Afters

What is the difference between energy-based and non-energy-based microneedling?

Non-energy-based microneedling such as skin rolling and Derma rolling is a home remedy that provides an entry level into the world of collagen stimulation, scar remodelling, acne scar treatments, and skin rejuvenation. As there is no energy involved, healing times are quicker; however, results are not as good as with medical grade energy-based RF microneedling.

For energy-based systems we rely on medical grade equipment that provides controlled heating of the collagen and deep dermal layers, in turn stimulating fibroblast (cells which lay down new collagen), and remodelling collagen, which results in the improvement of acne scars, sun damage, wrinkling, and skin laxity.*

How does the EndyMed Intensif RF microneedling work?

Intensif radiofrequency is an energy-based microneedling systems that uses gold-plated microneedles to safely deliver RF energy to specific locations of the deeper layers of the skin. Radiofrequency promotes the natural production of collagen and elastin, and over time the targeted tissue is replaced by healthier, younger looking skin with less laxity and a more even tone.*

How long does energy-based Intensif RF microneedling take?

Depending on the area, microneedling can take between 10 to 30 minutes.

How long is the recovery following a microneedling treatment?

Energy-based microneedling using radiofrequency such as EndyMed Intensif would have a longer healing time compared to Derma rolling. The healing time will depend on the area treated, the amount of overlaps, the depth of the needling, the pulse duration, and the energy levels. Of course, skin healing is also dependent on the individual.

As a guide:

• For light treatments, healing takes two to three days.
• For moderate treatment levels, healing takes four to five days.
• For high-intensity treatment levels, healing takes up to seven days.

How many microneedling treatments are recommended for optimal results?

In general, we advise between four to seven treatments. The exact number depends on the severity of your condition, as well as your age, skin’s overall health, ability to heal, past and present UV exposure, your immune system, and your desired results.

Is skin microneedling painful?

No. High-energy skin microneedling with the EndyMed RF systems is combined with an application of specialist-grade anaesthetic prior to the procedure. This will ensure that your comfort levels are maintained throughout the entire procedure.*

What can I expect after a radiofrequency energy-based skin microneedling treatment?

Pinpoint bleeding after the treatment is quite common; however, this will stop within five minutes of the procedure. After this, your skin will be slightly red and swollen for a period of 24 to 72 hours. Over the days following your treatment, your skin will heal and possibly shed.

We use a special healing balm to help prevent any scabs and microdots from forming. We encourage patients to avoid exercise during the healing process.

What is skin rolling and how does this differ from EndyMed Intensif radiofrequency?

Skin needling using a Derma roller was first invented nearly a quarter of a century ago. This process uses a series of needles within a roller system. The most common roller consists of 256 needles with varying depths of between 0.25 to 4 mm. These kits can be bought online, but they are not as effective as medical grade skin needling.

Is at-home skin rolling as effective as Intensif EndyMed RF microneedling?

No. The use of controlled heat using gold-plated needles and medical grade equipment provides a higher level of control and deeper depth of penetration. Skin rolling, much like all aspects of technology will always evolve in time and medical grade energy microneedling is now the new gold standard.

Can I wear makeup after my microneedling treatment?

Makeup cannot be worn for a period of three to five days following microneedling. This is because the minerals and constituents of makeup may enter the holes created by microneedling and cause an inflammatory response as your skin heals. We do stock a special makeup known as a Lycogel that can be worn during the healing process.

What skin conditions are suitable for skin microneedling treatments?

Skin microneedling is intended to treat dermal conditions which lie in the deep layers of your skin. The most commonly performed procedures treat:*

As a guide:

1. Acne scarring.

This treatment is best for rolling as well as atrophic scars that are mild-to-moderate in severity.

2. Skin laxity and fine wrinkling.

This procedure can be performed on the face, neck, chest, and décolletage areas.

3. Stretch marks.

A series of six treatments can improve stretch marks by up to 50%. To date there are no reliable treatments for stretch marks to enable complete removal.
