Pore Treatments Brisbane

Pore Treatments

Shrinking down enlarged pores is one of the most commonly performed procedures at the Fiori Institute of Skin and Body. With our wide selection of lasers, chemical peels, and energy devices, we are one of Brisbane's leading experts in pore size reduction.

What is the best treatment for enlarged pores?

This will depend on your skin type, your age, and the size of your pores. Pores can be divided into large, medium and small pores.

What causes enlarged pores?

The enlarged pores are often due to genetic factors. For example, certain ethnic skin types, such as Asian and darker skin tones, more frequently experience enlarged pores. Genetically and historically speaking, these patients are often raised in high humidity environments where the skin requires more room to breathe, hence becoming more visible.

In Caucasian patients enlarged pores are often due to genetics, but can also be caused by a loss of collagen. Enlarged pores are also due to the reduction of collagen and elastin. As one ages, there is a reduction in the support of pores and hence they appear larger over time.

Pore Reduction Before & Afters

How are large isolated skin pores treated?

Enlarged deep and wide skin pores can be secondary to acne or chickenpox. In this case, treatment is beyond the skill level of dermal therapists at Fiori, but we will be happy to refer you to a dermatological surgeon for treatment.

How are generalised enlarged pores treated?

Fractionated laser resurfacing offers a very reliable and low risk pore size reduction method.* If skin pores are generally enlarged, we use either the Clear + Brilliant system or the Fraxel laser. In older patients with larger  pores, we often combine the Fraxel 1550 with the 1927 in what is known as the Fraxel Dual mode.

Can microneedling help with reducing pore sizing?

Yes, microneedling using our EndyMed Intensif can also help with reducing your pore size; however, we do find that a fractionated laser resurfacing provides a better reduction overall.*

Can chemical peels help with reducing pore sizing?

Yes, in some patients the use of chemical peels can be beneficial. Glycolic acid chemical peels work best in patients with medium-sized pores. A series of five to seven peels spaced two to four weeks apart are required during this course of treatment. Glycolic acid chemical peels work by stimulating the collagen over time. This provides extra scaffolding and support for the pores, and in turn reduces your overall pore size.*

Can creams and skin care help reduce skin pore sizing?

Yes, creams that contain antioxidants, vitamin A, as well as oil decreasing products can help decrease skin pore sizing. The strength and concentration of retinol will depend on many factors including your skin sensitivities and the other types of products that you are using.

It’s important to note that creams alone cannot reduce pore sizing, but should be used after pore reduction treatments to maintain results. Our treatment specialists will help you pick the perfect product for your skin type.*

Who assesses what procedure is best for tightening my skin?

The Fiori Institute of Skin and Body specialists are trained by laser and procedural dermatologists as well as plastic surgeons. One of our trained dermal specialists will assess your skin quality and level of sun damage for the best treatment options and realistic expectations.* If your skin tightening is not achievable through non-surgical options then we will refer you to our team of doctors for further assessments.
